Climate transition depends not only on policy design but on how local ecosystems coordinate action across community groups, third-sector organisations, and public institutions. Without structured alignment at city level, implementation becomes fragmented and uneven.
Understanding these coordination dynamics is essential for translating strategic ambition into practical delivery.

Joined ECCAN to maintain ongoing situational awareness of Edinburgh’s climate action ecosystem. Observed how community initiatives, third-sector organisations, and public actors interface in practice, including where coordination mechanisms are strong and where structural gaps persist.
Used participation to analyse governance flow, communication pathways, and institutional responsiveness within a city-level transition context.
Observable Effect
Improved systems-level understanding of local climate coordination dynamics. Identified patterns in how policy intent is translated into collaborative action across municipal and community interfaces.
